What would gram’s vintage pattern-mania spliced together, and heavily contrasting, with hip sparse chicness look like, if brought together under the same roof? Not low-key, that’s for sure! This Scandinavian two-room crib is at times brimming over with flowery boughs, while, in some distinct corners, displaying a cheeky swing toward the youthfully modern. You could stand in one place of the spacious, well-lit living room, facing the conventional table-and-chairs set-up and the ivy-like wallpaper behind it, and think you’ve stepped into a time machine. The ornate flowers and foliage embossed on the white ceiling will reinforce that vintage vibe. Still, you’ve only to turn around and…

… Voilà! A glass-topped coffee table, a bright red locker-type of TV stand and a flurry of colored throw pillows and tabourets make the place seem less like something out of last decade’s shelter mags.

But the den’s mix between eyeful-of-color and quaint coziness isn’t the detail of interior design that makes this flat a double-helix hybrid. The kitchen, with parquet flooring and woody countertops next to an upscale stainless steel fridge is also quite the visual. Personally, I’m making a mental note to crib from this crib’s hallway design – the coat rack, placed on a wall that’s been stripped, as if slapdash, of a large raggedy portion of the plaster, gives the space a Do-It-Yourself-with-a-crowbar kind of ingenious feel.
