Sited in Sentosa Cove, Singapore, this four-storied house was designed by the architects at ONG&ONG with a clear purpose in mind: “achieving space maximization and privacy.” With the placement being of a more suburban and less sprawl-at-will type, the house is meant to serve as an oasis from prying eyes, an aim that leaves its exterior putting up a pretty boarded-up front for any passer-by. If happening along the street, they’ll be treated to a towering grey and brown structure, wings stacked and jutting out like building blocks, its ground floor lined with a medium-sized fence threaded by climbers.

Inside this gated haven the dwellers lead a comfortable life, which they can idle away either lounging by the pool or taking in the view of a dense patch of leafy ferns that decorates the inner courtyard. As if built around this decorative green spot, the house affords a variety of vantage points, from behind sliding glass doors that open onto this sunken mini-garden. A steely color palette effectively cools the kitchen space with an ultra-modern vibe, and sparsely furnished white and woody rooms welcome the sun in, soaking in its warmth.
