Who doesn’t like a bumper-sticker phrase? I can imagine the show of hands, so let me put you at ease: these pictures featured below aren’t anywhere near those less than class-act bromides, indeed they’re more like pithy pictographs with writing. The lettering is equally important towards delivering the message as is the graphic frame. Communicating a witticism in pill-like fashion, these examples of typographic art from Mumbai-based Manish Mansinh take on familiar images from the (consumerist) world around us and put a different spin on them.

The fonts, the colors or even the occasional curlicues can be instantly recognizable, but Manish’s skill will find a smart way to reshape the original matter, logo or just plain words, into a statement. Some turn out to be inspirational, some are middle fingers leveled at the world, but they all sound off in their own distinct way, grabbing the onlooker’s attention for just the right amount of time for the message to register. Sure, that core isn’t especially mind-blowing – ranging from “All you need is love” and “You matter in this world” to “Fuck you” – but in this case we’ll let that slide in view of the message-appropriate graphics and out-of-the-box thinking.
