The Rustic-Urban Stockholm Loft to Call Home

It should be clear enough to anyone by now that if you’re looking for inspiration for your upcoming home remodel project, there is no better source of inspiration than Swedish realty websites. This penthouse found on Per Jansson is the perfect illustration to a charming and bold interior design concept, which adds rustic and post-industrial elements to the neutral ‘canvas’ of an urban setting. The apartment is located on the top floor of a historic building, erected in 1914 in one of the most tranquil areas of Stockholm. Like most Swedish homes, this one, too, is put together around the open plan kitchen-cum-day area. The lofted space features exposed wooden beams, wooden paneling on the ceiling and several vintage design elements that have been incorporated into the arrangement of the space.

The conversation piece which rests at the heart of the apartment, however, is the towering fireplace in black metal, which ends in a bubble-like capsule where the fire roars tame and warm. The 168 square meter home also features a dining area with a table which can accommodate six to eight diners, and a twelve square-meter terrace that adjoins the kitchen and the lounge. Most of the rooms are lofted—the bedrooms, the bathroom and the half-bathroom, and this creates a sense of nestled coziness, inside an apartment which one can readily and truly call home.
